Imago Conference

  • Pitlochry Baptist Church Atholl Road Pitlochry Scotland (map)

Imago seeks to impart the importance of spiritual formation from spiritually mature Christians to spiritually maturing Christians. Our teachings will focus on the pivotal role of the Spirit in our transformation, guiding us to become more like Christ.

Our theme this year is the Sunday service

The Sunday service has been described as a counter-formational practice, a movement against the flow of culture that challenges how the world is trying to shape us. What could we become without the regular rhythm of a Sunday morning spent listening to a sermon, worshipping with other disciples, collecting our money together to give away, and breaking bread in remembrance of Jesus’ death? Even if our Sunday service looks nothing like what I’ve just described, what could we become without the practice of meeting with other Christians?

While it’s crucial to ask what our life might look like without a regular rhythm of Sunday worship, we cannot look at this rhythm without asking what we are becoming because of the Sunday service. New studies reference a ‘regular attendee’ as someone coming to one or two Sunday services a month. What is the role of the Sunday service in our discipleship to Jesus? What is the purpose of this ancient tradition, and how is it forming us into becoming more like Jesus?
